Radial J48 was designed from the ground up to provide the most natural tone possible. As the makers of Direct Boxes, we believe that our job is not to change the sound of your prized '1962 Fender Jazz Bass', but to retain and convey the true character of the instrument to the mixing board without adding distortion or introducing artifacts. This design philosophy has gained a huge following among many of the world's most discerning players.
Radial J48 uses exclusively 48V phantom power and is an active direct box that produces an exceptionally linear response that extends from 20Hz to well beyond 40kHz. Low distortion of all types is ensured by a unique digital switching power supply that increases the internal operating voltage, adding headroom and improving signal handling. The results are truly astonishing. The J48 ensures an ideal cascade of even harmonics and better sonic performance than DIs costing several hundred euros more.
Like all Radial products, the J48 is packed with features for studio use but also exceptionally rugged for use on the road. It features a -15dB input pad to handle the loudest signals, 180º polarity reverse for feedback control on stage, and a Ground lift to reduce hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Special features include a Merge function that elegantly combines the left and right signals into a mono signal, with no phase cancellation. To minimize resonant feedback with acoustic instruments, the J48 has an 80Hz high-pass (low-cut) filter that, when engaged, also increases headroom by eliminating unnecessary low frequencies.
Radial ’s innovative book-style design protects the switches and connectors. The internal I-beam construction eliminates stress on the PC board, protecting sensitive components from potential twisting damage and ensuring trouble-free performance for years. The back features a full-area anti-slip pad that provides mechanical and electrical isolation, ensuring stability on “very rock” stages!

Choosing this payment method, the amount will be charged directly to your PayPal account. PayPal protects buyer information. For every transaction made with this method, a confirmation email will be sent by PayPal. The order amount is debited from the PayPal account at the time of order acquisition. You can pay for your orders up to €1999 in cash upon delivery to the courier. A 4% commission is applied to this payment method.
The purchased goods will be delivered to the destination address specified by the customer at the time of purchase. Delivery will be made at street level (not to the floor). Shipping costs include handling and packaging charges as well as postal fees.
At the time of shipment, you will receive a Tracking Code to track your delivery (not all couriers provide it).
The shipping within Italy is FREE for orders with a minimum amount of €149. For international shipments, costs vary depending on the country and the total weight of the products.
Our shipments are insured. The boxes are adequately sized, and your items are well protected.
For payments via PayPal or Credit Card, shipping will take place in the days following the payment. For bank transfer payments, shipping will occur once we receive confirmation of the credit transfer.
