FUEL INJECTOR delivers a distinctive overdrive with rich harmonics and a natural sense of compression and bite. Developed by amplifier manufacturer VOX, this overdrive pedal stands out for its amp-like distortion, as opposed to typical stompbox distortions. Unlike tone-coloring effects like preamp-style pedals, FUEL INJECTOR retains its natural characteristics as it distorts through the Nutube, providing a tone that sounds as if the connected amp is being pushed into even more distortion. Compared to many drive pedals, including TS-style ones, it features overabundant harmonic components and a pronounced compression characteristic reminiscent of a tube amp. The harmonic richness created by the Nutube’s multi-stage distortion, coupled with the unique bias variations of the tubes, produces a resonant tone that captures the essence of an amplifier.
This feature allows for a nice drive sound when using this pedal with a clean amp setting. The FUEL INJECTOR adds a “buck” to the sound, gracefully increasing the gain even during bends. The Valvenergy series has been welcomed as a series of pedals that offers the response of a tube amplifier, and now four new models join the range.
All models are equipped with the new generation Nutube valves and include a booster (Power Burst), a valve compressor (Smooth Impact), an overdrive (Fuel Injector) and a graphic equalizer (Tone Sculptor); a complete set of effects that are a must for guitarists. The pedals are designed to exploit all the characteristics of guitars, effects pedals and amplifiers combined before and after the pedal, and are simple and natural pedals that you never get bored of.
To fully exploit the potential of the Nutube, a high-quality buffer for the initial stage, which serves as the guitar’s primary input point, was essential. Accordingly, Vox designed a dedicated buffer circuit to meet this requirement. When the effects are turned off, the Nutube functions as a bypass, providing a natural response and lightweight feel similar to plugging directly into the amp. With the effects engaged, the buffer’s characteristics are synergized with the Nutube’s signature compression, resulting in a smooth, natural playing experience with nuances that enhance the performance.
The new chassis' top panel features an etched design inspired by the unique sound of each effect pedal. The shipping within Italy is FREE for orders with a minimum amount of €149. For international shipments, costs vary depending on the country and the total weight of the products.
