With its two oscillators, the monotron DUO adds an extra edge to the classic monotron sound, to create powerful and complex sounds. You can tune the oscillators in unison, to obtain a more full-bodied and powerful sound, or tune them with an interval of your choice to create sounds useful in solo parts and/or for the creation of particular and more complex sounds. The "X-MOD" Cross Modulation circuit derived from the classic Korg Mono/Poly synth allows you to create even more particular sounds, from vibrato to extremely metallic sounds, which bring to mind FM synthesis. The ribbon keyboard of the monotron DUO offers an additional function compared to the other models, this one derived from the KAOSSILATOR, in fact you can use a button to select one of the 4 available scales: Chromatic, Major, Minor, or Wide. Select the chromatic one to play as on a classic keyboard, or the major or minor one to play musical phrases simply by passing your finger on the keyboard, without having to worry about the intervals. The sound of an analog filter (VCF) can radically enrich and change a tone. The monotron DUO uses the same VCF circuit as the historic KORG MS-10 and MS-20 semi-modular synthesizers. Released 30 years ago, these synthesizers are still highly sought after by analog synthesis enthusiasts. The VCF Cutoff knob lets you select the cutoff point of the low-pass filter, while the Peak knob controls the resonance. A powerful filter is an essential element of any analog synthesizer, allowing you to apply radical changes to the sound during your performances. Thanks to the mini-jack "Aux In" on the rear panel of the monotron DUO, you can connect any external audio source, such as a Kaossilator, a guitar, or a CD and/or .mp3 player, and then process it through the resonant low-pass filter available in the monotron family. monotron DUO features a small speaker, which coupled with its compact size and battery power (2 AAA, for approximately 8 hours of battery life) will allow you to enjoy the instrument's functions whenever and wherever you are. A mini-jack output is also available that allows you to connect to headphones, a mixer, or an audio system.
