After monotron, monotribe and MS-20 mini, Korg announces the new VOLCA series of analog synthesizers: Volca Keys Lead synthesizer , Volca Bass bass synthesizer and the Volca Beats rhythm machine .

Volca is the new line composed of 3 analog synthesizers produced by Korg and equipped with a sequencer, a MIDI IN port and dedicated to the generation of lead, bass, or electronic drum sounds. These instruments allow you to obtain various analog sounds, rich and full-bodied in a simple way, thanks to the presence of carefully selected parameters. The integrated loop sequencer allows you to generate musical phrases, bass lines, or rhythms in an extremely intuitive way. You can use them alone, in tandem, all together, connected to each other, or with your DAW. This is possible thanks to the presence of a MIDI IN port that allows you to play the Volca series synths from MIDI keyboards or from your computer-based DAW, or by using the sync jack input and output that allow synchronization with other analog instruments (monotribe, for example) and/or with the SyncKontrol app for iPhone. Featuring an auto-tuning function for the oscillators, which prevents the out-of-tune sound that analog synthesizers are often subject to, the Volca series by Korg synthesizers can be powered by six AA batteries (or by AC power using the optional Korg KA-350 AC adapter) and have a built-in speaker, allowing you to play anywhere, from the recording studio to the mixing console at a club, on a train, on a plane, or while relaxing in the park.

KORG VOLCA BASS: ANALOGUE BASS MACHINE

A powerful analog synth dedicated to generating bass sounds and equipped with a sequencer for generating bass lines inspired by the Electribe series. The Korg Volca Bass is an analog bass-line synthesizer with 3 oscillators (VCO) based on an extremely simple but impactful synthesis structure: 3 VCOs (sawtooth and square), VCF, VCA, LFO and EG. Like the other synths in the Volca series, the Bass has MIDI IN and mini jack sync in and out connections for use in a chain, synchronized with other analog synths, to play it from your computer-based DAW, or with external MIDI keyboards. The Volca Bass will allow you to create an infinite variety of bass sounds full of those nuances that are difficult to reproduce with digital equipment, from the driest sounds to the most floating and modulated. Given the various operating modes of the 3 VCOs (from unison to 3-voice chord), the Volca Bass will satisfy you in any situation. Using the 2+1 configuration, for example, you can use two oscillators for the bass part, while the third can be used to create a melodic lead part. In unison mode, by acting on the detune parameter, you can generate patches with a sure impact, or, by acting individually on the pitch parameters of the 3 VCOs, setting them respectively to 0, +3 and +7, you can create a chord that can be played by pressing a single note. The analog filter from Korg has been specifically revised to meet the current needs of electronic music producers and therefore operate with greater incisiveness and clarity, with particular attention to the distortion induced by resonance. The latter is in fact a fundamental element for this type of instrument, which is often used in the creation of acid bass lines. By rotating the cutoff potentiometer to open the filter, the sound will take on a brighter character, while by closing it you will gradually generate a more delicate timbre, up to the most enveloping deep bass. The peak potentiometer allows you to increase the resonance, which at high values can translate into real distortion. The integrated 16-step sequencer, which takes inspiration from the one implemented in the Electribe groove box series by Korg , is not only intuitive, but also powerful, capable of generating a bass line that will not fail to infuse you with inspiration with a few simple gestures. You can enter notes directly on the steps, or record the phrases played via the touch keyboard on the instrument. Given the different modes available for configuring the oscillators, you can generate complex patterns, recording, for example, different phrases for each of the three VCOs. The sequencer was designed to offer rapid modification of the patterns in real time. In Slide mode you can apply a sort of portamento to the notes played. When the sequence is playing, with the Active Step function you can exclude steps from the pattern. This will allow you to create an effect similar to the looper, or irregular rhythmic designs. With the Korg Volca Bass you can program sounds that stand out in the rhythmic texture of your song, full-bodied and powerful basses to support the rhythmic part, or sounds with a more electro-funky flavour for the most engaging grooves.
