E' dotato di un'ottima schermatura contro il ronzio elettromagnetico generato dai monitor dei computer, luci al neon e altri dispositivi elettrici. Con il suo doppio controllo del tono, l'SM7B è eccezionalmente versatile. Questo equalizzatore passivo selezionabile dual-band offre controlli Low Cut e Presence Boost. Può supportare fino a 180dB, il che rende l'SM7B la scelta migliore per grancasse e cabinet per chitarra e basso. L'SM7B è stato aggiornato rispetto ai precedenti modelli con un design della staffa migliorato che offre una maggiore stabilità.
