The Power 50 Overdrive emulates the sound that Tom Morello has been using since 1988 and with which he has recorded 21 albums. The Power 50 Overdrive circuit uses MOSFET technology to recreate the preamp sound of Tom Morello 's amplifier and features the same controls: Gain , Bass , Middle , Treble , Volume and Presence . In addition, Tom routes all his effects into the FX loop of his amplifier and this pedal allows you to replicate this feature thanks to its integrated effects loop .
If you have a Cry Baby Tom Morello Wah, you can insert it into the effects loop to get its aggressive wah sounds. Placing the Cry Baby Wah before the Power 50 Overdrive in the chain gives a thinner sound, while placing it after provides a sound with pronounced highs. The FX loop is also perfect for live use: by keeping the Power 50 Overdrive always on to use it as a base sound and placing all the effects in the pedal's loop, you don't have to worry about adjusting all the levels, but just act on the Power 50's controls.
This pedal can be powered by a 9-volt battery, a 9-volt AC power supply such as the Dunlop ECB003/ECB003EU, or an MXR Brick series power supply.
