SQ-7

The SQ-7 is the flagship 33-fader console in the SQ Series, powered by Allen & Heath ’s revolutionary 96kHz XCVI FPGA engine. Built to excel in demanding environments such as AV, corporate events, live production and houses of worship, the SQ-7 delivers high-resolution audio quality with incredibly low latency of less than 0.7ms. The console features 32 onboard mic preamps, plus 8 stereo FX engines with dedicated stereo return channels and access to the renowned RackExtra FX library.

SQ is a natural choice for in-ear monitor setups, with 12 stereo mixes (configurable as groups or Aux), while Automatic Mic Mixing makes it an excellent choice for conferences, panel discussions and more.

96kHz XCVI Core

SQ is powered by Allen & Heath ’s XCVI 96kHz FPGA engine, delivering incredible high-resolution audio quality, incredibly low latency of less than 0.7ms, and variable bit depth for optimised dynamic range. XCVI is the foundation of the next generation, enabling SQ to drive huge channel counts at 96kHz, with a mix that has plenty of headroom thanks to a 96-bit accumulator, and the raw power to integrate with our popular DEEP plug-ins on all 48 input channels and all mixes.

DEEP Processing

SQ’s DEEP processing architecture lets you hand-pick compressor and preamp emulations to suit your style and needs. DEEP plug-ins can be integrated directly into your mixer’s inputs and mix channels, never adding latency to your system or creating installation headaches.

Expandable up to 48 microphones

Thanks to the intelligent SLink port, the SQ-7 can be expanded up to a total of 48 mic inputs via a range of 96kHz and 48kHz rack and stage box expanders (such as the AB168, AR2412, AR84 and DX168), making it a flexible solution for owners of other Allen & Heath digital systems. You can also connect to another SQ, Qu or dLive system for two-way audio patching.

Dante, Waves and more

SQ is the hub of a growing ecosystem of expanders, audio networks, personal mixers, apps and more that allow you to connect, adapt and expand your system as you wish. It is compatible with all major audio networking standards – simply add an audio networking card such as Dante or Waves to SQ’s I/O port to integrate with existing systems, provide digital FoH / Monitor split and more.

Flexible multitrack recording

The integrated LSQ-Drive lets you quickly and easily capture a 96 kHz multitrack or stereo recording of your show directly to a USB stick or hard drive. No software setup, no sound card drivers, and no extra laptop required to record your performance. SQ-Drive is also a smart way to manage walk-in music.

There's also a built-in 32x32 96kHz audio interface for multitrack recording, backing tracks, or virtual soundcheck applications. The interface is Core Audio and ASIO compatible, and comes complete with MIDI and DAW control capabilities.

Advanced AMM function

The SQ-7's advanced Automatic Mic Mixers (AMMs) make it an ideal choice for mixing conferences, panel discussions and TV programmes: they are integrated into the mixer with no additional latency and there is no need to route audio to an internal DSP rack or external plugin system. There are two completely independent 24-channel AMMs, which can be used for two separate zones or combined into a single 48-channel AMM for larger events.

The mixing experience

We think you should decide how your mixer works, not the other way around. That’s why we’ve equipped SQ with a host of options to design your own workflows. Channels and mixes can be dragged and dropped individually onto any strip, with custom names and colors on the displays, giving you full control over the layout. The SQ-7 features 16 SoftKeys and 8 Soft Rotary buttons with LCD displays, so you can choose which functions you want to see. Each strip features our patented Chromatic Channel Metering, which provides at-a-glance level indication through variable brightness and color. Plus a ‘Channel to All’ mix button gives you instant access to all assignments and send levels for the selected channel.

RackExtraFX

Allen & Heath has a reputation for creating FX emulations that rival the best plug-ins, but without the hassle. SQ is equipped with 8 stereo FX engines and includes the famous RackExtra library of legendary classic reverb emulations, gated reverbs, delays, modulations and more. All FX have dedicated stereo returns, so there’s no need to waste any more input channels.

ME Personal Mixing System

SQ is fully compatible with the ME Personal Mixing System, allowing artists to take control of their own monitor mixes. Any number of ME-1 and ME-500 Personal Mixers can be daisy-chained together from the mixer’s SLink port or from a connected remote expander.
