Yamaha ha sviluppato SRT Powered, collaborando con artisti della registrazione per creare un sistema su misura per le proprietà uniche del nuovo corpo SLG e modellato sui suoni di una chitarra acustica Yamaha di fascia alta catturata usando un microfono accuratamente selezionato in un ambiente di uno studio professionale di registrazione.
Riproducendo effettivamente il suono di una chitarra acustica - fino al suo sustain e decadimento naturale - Yamaha consente ai chitarristi di provare la risonanza, il suono del body ed il feel di una chitarra acustica. Il suono SRT Powered può anche essere miscelato con il suono dei pickup piezoelettrici dello strumento, consentendo ai chitarristi di essere ancora più flessibili nei loro sforzi creativi.
Poiché SLG è in grado di riprodurre virtualmente il suono di una chitarra registrata con un microfono, i musicisti sono liberi dalle complicate procedure conseguenti al microfonaggio di una chitarra quando registrano a casa o in altre situazioni. La parte superiore staccabile del telaio della SLG significa che la praticità e la portabilità sono ben oltre quella di una chitarra convenzionale.
Il corpo sottile della SLG offre a questi strumenti una suonabilità eccellente e consente ai musicisti di passare ad una chitarra elettrica senza alcun disagio in caso di necessità. Con la SLG, Yamaha ha deciso di dare un tocco moderno ai contorni classici di una chitarra convenzionale. Il design distintivo che è emerso è il risultato di uno sforzo collaborativo tra il project team e il Yamaha Design Laboratory e combina linee di chitarra tradizionali con una nuova forma innovativa che differisce da qualsiasi altra chitarra precedente.
SLG200S è più silenziosa del 90% rispetto a una chitarra classica convenzionale. Sia il modello in acciaio che quello in nylon sono dotati di un truss rod ad azione doppia, che consente di regolare sia la convessità che la concavità del manico.
