Qu-24’s 32 AnalogiQTM preamps feature 1dB step gain adjustment and DSP precision to deliver the same high transparency and musicality as analog mixers. High-quality, low-latency 24-bit A/D converters ensure the lowest noise floor for a digital mixer.

A lot of processing power and advanced functionality are great advantages for an engineer, but it doesn't matter if the controls aren't instantly accessible. Once you start using the Qu-32, you'll feel the years of ergonomic research and mixing experience that A&H engineers have put into building a natural, fluid layout. They haven't tried to recreate an analog interface, but a fluid, comfortable and intuitive operation for beginners, digital natives and "old-time" engineers alike, making all the benefits of digital technology accessible to everyone.

An 800 x 480, sixteen million color touchscreen and dedicated encoders form the heart of the Qu-32 interface, providing super-fast and easy access to all menus. The user-friendly interface is designed with dedicated buttons and screens guiding you through RTA views, FX, channel processing, USB audio control, scenes, setup menus and more.

Super Strip

The processing of each channel (IN/OUT) is presented with a very simple SuperStrip layout with one (and only one!) function for each encoder. The approach is always twofold: analogically with the dedicated encoders or digitally via the touchscreen but without complex menu structures. The processing of the Mono and Stereo inputs includes trim, polarity, HPF, gate, insert, 4 bands of parametric equalization, compressor and delay.

Motorized faders

Motorised faders have become the norm with the advent of digital technology. However, some entry-level digital mixers lack this valuable asset despite it being an essential part of a “Total Recall” concept. Motorised faders are essential for fast mixing, especially when dealing with multiple monitors: on the QU-32, simply press a button and the input channel faders operate on the send for that mix. Qu-32 features 33 ALPS motorised faders, 32 arranged in two layers, giving instant access to all input channels and master mixes in one compact space, plus a dedicated master fader that tracks the mix selection. There is also a third layer that is user-customisable, with any combination of inputs, FX sends and returns and master mix.

iLiveFX

Qu-32’s dynamics and effects algorithms are derived from the same ones used in the pro iLive series. It’s worth noting that some of the world’s most respected sound engineers have chosen to use the Live effects rather than external FX units. Qu-32 features 4 stereo effects engines, with handcrafted emulations of legendary reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, modulators, flangers and more. The FX library has the capacity to be expanded with future firmware releases. The effects have dedicated return channels, so no mono or stereo input channels are occupied. Each FX return has a dedicated 4-band parametric EQ.

Total Recall

Qu-24 saves and recalls scenes at the touch of a button. Qu-32 can store up to 100 scenes for each show. Channels and mixes can be made safe by scenes: for example, if an instrument or mic is swapped after soundcheck, the channel can be made safe to prevent the scene from recalling the saved settings. Or an iPod is added at the last minute before the show, that mix or channel can be made safe by any scene change. Additionally, individual parameter updates can be locked using Recall Filter or Global Recall Filter. So, if you optimise the graphic EQ for the frequency response of a venue when the audience has entered, you can lock that parameter to prevent it being overwritten in the event of a scene change. The parameters of each EQ, compressor, channel or effect can be saved as a preset in the Library. This allows you to store the EQ of a tried and tested SM58 or reverb and apply it to other channels or shows later. Libraries, scenes and shows can be saved to a USB stick, so you can take the show with you, ready to use on another Qu-24 or Qu-16.

USB Audio Streaming

Qu-32 can be used as a 32-channel multitrack audio interface for a Mac. The returns from the Mac can be routed to mono and stereo channels. The interface is natively compatible with Mac OS X - meaning it is truly plug 'n play, with no need to install any drivers. It will be recognised straight away by any DAW supporting Core Audio, including Logic, Cubase, Reaper and Pro Tools. Standard MIDI control is possible via the USB connection so you can map faders to tracks in your DAW. Alternatively, MIDI control is available via the Ethernet port.
